The description of cassava starch processing:

(1) Raw material receiving and belt conveying: The cassava/tapioca is carried and transported on the conveyer.

(2) Water cleaning and destoning : The water will wash the cassava and destoning during the process of conveying.

(3) Crushing: The crushing unit is the most important step for extracting cassava starch. Highly-efficient crushing machine will release the starch in cassavas at most.

(4) Centrifugal extracting:The cassava starch slurry and residue  will be separated from the starch milk.

(5) Desanding: Removing the sand in the starch slurry.

(6) Concentration and refining:Working through the hydroclone, there are 2 steps, including concentration and refining so that we can get purier starch slurry.

(7) Vacuum dewatering: The starch slurry is pumped into inlet tank of vacuum dewatering machine.

Then the vacuum rotary drum will adsorb the starch on the drum surface and the filtrate is transferred out of the system by filtrate pump. The filter cake on the drum will be peeled off by peeler and then transferred to the air dryer by screw conveyor.

(8) Air-stream drying: After dewatering process, the air dryer will dry the starch to the required moisture of the commercial starch.

How to make high quality cassava flour from cassava flour making machine

After harvesting mature cassava roots, the roots are peeled and washed. 
They are then grated and dehydrated with a screw or hydraulic press. 
They are then often dried before being finely milled and packaged.  

For this process, the most common equipment is a grater, press, dryer, miller and packaging machine. Drying is one of the major factors for making premium cassava flour. 

There are several ways to dry cassava roots or grated cassava. Natural drying is done by exposing cassava roots or chips to sunlight which is cheap, but also risky as it exposes the cassava to pests and diseases. It is also a long process. Artificial drying is done by de-hydrating cassava with a controllable energy source. An example of artificial drying is the rotary dryer which consist of a drum-like chamber, similar to a tumble dry, which is fueled by energy and rotates the product to extract moisture.

Cassava starch production equipment







Starch is the main constituent of cassava roots . Cassava Starch is produced from fresh cassava roots by wet-milling method .  Our cassava starch production equipment is produce cassava starch from fresh harvest cassava root .

About 25% starch may be realized from mature and good quality tubers. About 60% starch may be obtained from dry cassava chips and about 10% dry pulp may be realized per 100 kg of cassava of roots.

Fresh tubers are processed during season and dry chips during the off-season by cassava starch production equipment . The cassava roots processing plant is designed as the buyer requirement.

The whole cassava starch production equipment is comprised of four major sections: Washing & Crushing Sections, Screening Sections, Concentrating Sections and Drying Sections.

Fresh cassava roots are washed to free foreign matters and peeled mechanically. Then they are fed into raspers along with water for pulping, followed by filtration to separate starch so released during pulping. The residue is finely ground in plate mills to release residual starch from the pulp. It is then filtered in a multistage fibre washing system to recover starch from the pulp. The stream containing starch is put through centrifugal separators or the tabling system to eliminate fine fibre from starch. The starch is filtered/centrifuged and finally the starch cake is dried in a flash dryer, packed and then marketed. The pulp is dewaterd in a screen press, dried in a flash dryer and sold for animal feed.

Tips:

The roots are normally received from the field as soon as possible after harvest and cannot be stored for more than three days. Since the presence of woody matter or stones may seriously interfere with the rasping process by stoppage or by breaking the blades, the woody ends of the roots are chopped off with sharp knives before the cassava starch processing.
