The description of cassava flour production process:

How to process cassava into gari?

Gari is a creamy-white, granular flour with a slightly fermented flavor and a slightly sour taste made from fermented, gelatinized fresh cassava tubers. Gari is widely known in Nigeria and other West African countries.

How to process cassava into gari ?

To make garri, cassava tubers are peeled, washed and grated or crushed to produce a mash. The mash is placed in a porous bag and weights are placed on the bag for a day to a few days to press excess water out. When the cassava has become dry enough, it is ready for the next step. It is then sieved and fried in a frying machine with or without palm oil. The resulting dry granular garri can be stored for long periods. It may be pounded or ground to make a fine flour.

How to produce starch from cassava?

Cassava is a long tuberous starchy root ,contain from 20 to 32% of starch at maturity. The cassava roots can be processed into cassava starch ( also called tapioca starch ) for  many industrial use.

How to produce starch from cassava ?

Cassava starch is produced primarily by the wet milling of fresh cassava roots in the cassava starch processing plant . The  production process is as below :

1.Cassava receiving
The cassava roots are stored in the reception yard on a concrete floor. 

2.Cleaning and washing
From  buffer bin the cassava tubers are fed into the rotating screen for dry cleaning to remove loose dirt, sand, and gravel. Then the cassava roots enter the washing station. Paddle washers and rotary
washers are  used for washing the soil or dirt on the roots to make refining easier.

3. Milling or Rasping
Milling or rasping is the first step in the starch extraction process. The goal is to open all the root cells and release all starch granules. 
Hammer crusher or rasper can be chosen for different varieties and conditions of raw material in order to obtain the best milling efficiency

4. Extraction
The extraction is a counter current process.  The centrifugal sieve is the main machine for the starch extraction  by water washing the cassava slurry. Then starch  juice will separate with residue . 
The pressure screen is followed for separate the fine fibers from starch juice. 


5. De-sanding
De-sanding cyclone uses the unique water separation system to remove the sands for getting high quality cassava starch,

6. Refining and concentration
Excess juice is removed on a couple of hydro cyclone concentrators. The concentrated starch "crude starch milk " is washed on the refining hydro cyclone units to get the purity starch milk.  
After Hydro cyclone refining ,  the protein content in starch milk can meet the quality requirements of different standard;


7. De-watering and Drying, Sieving
The vacuum dehydrator will remove the excess water from the purity starch milk to get the wet starch (moisture about 38%) , then feed wet starch to the our patent steam crash starch dryer , to dry the starch by the hot air in short time at low temperature (drying temperature around 45 Celsius). The dry starch moisture is 13%~14%. Then sieve the dry starch to get requirement size starch .


8. Product Packaging and storage
Packing the sieved dry starch into bag by auto-packing machine or manual , then put the packed starch into warehouse for storage.

Garri (also known as gari, garry, gali, or tapioca) is a popular West African food made from cassava tubers. The garri production machine can process garri from fresh cassava to add the value to the cassava.

Production of garri by the garri production machine :

1. To make garri, cassava tubers are peeled, washed and grated or crushed to produce a mash.

2. The mash is placed in a porous bag and weights are placed on the bag for one to two days or more to press excess water and starch out. By day three, the cassava will lose a good amount of a water and become dry enough for the next step.

3. It is then sieved (or sifted) and fried in an extra large clay frying pot with or without palm oil.

4. The resulting dry granular garri can be stored for long periods. It may be pounded or ground to make a fine flour. 

Garri can be eaten without further cooking, as a snack, by placing it in a bowl and adding cold water; ijebu-garri is made to have finer grains, and a pleasantly sour taste, making it very suitable for consumption in this way. Sugar or honey is then added as well as chunks of coconut, groundnuts, tigernuts and cashew nuts. Milk may also be added.

6. De-watering section:
Vacuum dehydrator remove most of the water of the starch milk to get the wet starch( moisture is around 38%) .

7. Starch drying section :
Starch drying machine can dry cassava to moisture to 13%~14% at low temperature.
Patented starch drying machine can dry the starch at low temperature , so it can reduce steam consumption that other kind starch drying machine.
